The Family Law Help Desk is located
in the lobby at the Peter L. Spinetta Family Law Center located at 751 Pine Street, Martinez, CA. The hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Monday though Friday, except court holidays. This is a free service for parties who do not have attorneys.

Information at the Help Desk is limited to Family Law matters only; staff at this courthouse do not help with guardianships, small claims, civil cases, name changes or any other non-Family Law matters.

When you come to the Family Law Center, take a number and you will be able to speak to one of the Family Law Facilitators at the Help Desk. The facilitator will ask you some questions to see if you have an open case in Contra Costa County, will direct you to workshops, websites or forms packets.

The facilitators are not your attorneys and they do not give legal advice. Facilitators provide procedural information only. The service is not confidential. The facilitators will not tell you what you “should” do in your case, and they will not give you advice on how to win your case. If your case is complicated, you will be given information about the lawyer referral services.

The facilitators are not able to help with every Family Law issue. Click here for information about the issues that facilitators can and cannot help with.

If English is not your first language, you can bring a friend or relative with you to translate.

If you have completed your forms at home, you can bring them to the Help Desk for a document review before you file them. The facilitators can give you information about filing your forms, serving the other party, and what to do after your hearing.
