FINISH YOUR DIVORCE

The workshops to finish your divorce are available in Martinez and Richmond
by appointment only. To sign up for a workshop, come to the Help Desk at
751 Pine Street, Martinez  Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and
1:00 p.m. (except holidays.)Take a number. When your number is called, tell the facilitator that you need an appointment for the "Finish your Divorce" workshop. The facilitator will make sure you have filed all the documents you need to file before working on your judgment documents.

You can also check in at the Richmond Facilitator Office  (100-37th Street, Richmond) on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (closed between 12-1) to make your appointment.

SMALL CLAIMS

The Small Claims Advisor offers the lectures below. 

  •  The lectures cover jurisdictional limitations of Small Claims court; types of cases heard; mediation as a helpful avenue to solve disputes; initial filings with the court to start the case; notifying other parties about the lawsuit (“service of process”); obtaining evidence and preparing for the trial hearing; what to expect at the hearing; judgment; and obligations and options of the parties after issuance of the judgment.  The lectures do not cover how to collect a judgment at the moment.
  • YOU MUST SIGN UP BEFORE YOU CAN ATTEND.  To find out when and where lectures will be held and to sign up, email smallclaims@contracosta.courts.ca.gov.
  • No child care available.  Please do not bring children to the lectures.
  • Lectures start on time.
  • The lectures do not allow time for specific questions to be answered.
