Court Rules

State and local court rules affect how you handle your court case.

• California Rules of Court affect cases throughout the state, and are adopted by the Judicial Council of California.
• Local court rules affect cases filed in Contra Costa County courts.

The Judicial Council considers changes to the Rules of Court twice a year, and the Contra Costa Superior Court considers changes to the local court rules annually. During designated periods, you can review these proposed changes and offer comments.
